Exploring Sulphur Springs, Texas

Since I’m writing books set in the small, fictional town of Pecan, Texas, my husband and I decided to spend some time exploring small Texas towns around us. First up: Sulphur Springs.

I had to drop some books of to Colleen Hoover’s bookstore, The Bookworm Box, so thought taking the time to explore after dropping some books off would be fun.
We LOVE Tex Mex food (which you will see in my Crab Apple Canyon books), so of course we had to stop first for lunch and chips and salsa downtown.
Would I be a mystery writer if I didn’t stop at the courthouse? We found the historic courthouse on the square. No court cases were going on but we got to walk around the building and took some photos, checking out the architecture.
Another big attraction, oddly, to Sulphur Springs are these bathrooms. Yes those are mirrored so no one can see inside but you can do your business with a 360 view of the square.
Of course our trip wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Magic Scoop for homemade ice cream.
